Soul… like Khan

Soul Khan breaks the stereotypical mold of an MC. His distinct voice reminds you of an MC from the glory days of music. You find yourself hanging on every lyric of his songs. He’s an music artist who happens to be good at MC battling. He started rapping during his junior high school years and dabbled in the underground rap battles. It wasn’t until November 2008 when Soul Khan started taking his rap battles and career in music seriously. He moved to Brooklyn, New York, got a job at Fat Beats and joined the underground hip hop group, Brown Bag Allstars.

From 2008 to 2010, Soul Khan amassed a large fan following as he quickly become one of the best battle rappers in the Grindtime, Smack URL, and King of the Dot leagues. His battles have amassed over 6 million combined views on YouTube and growing exponentially every day. He has become globally recognized for his intense battles in which he demolishes his opponents.

During the Fall of 2010, Soul Khan retired from the battle scene to focus on making music. He released a free digital album, Soul Like Khan in November 2010. The album was critically loved by sites such as 2Dopeboyz, Global Grind, Okayplayer and countless others. The album and its accompanying videos have gathered mentions from over 250 music blogs and websites. The album and its title track recently made it on the CMJ Hip Hop Charts where it remained for the month May 2011. The single “Soul Like Khan” premiered on MTVu.com and currently sits in the Top 5 on both Rap Attack and Record Breakers college/DJ charts.

Where fans would previously discover Soul Khan through his MC battle footage, they are now discovering him for his music. Since the April 2011 release of Soul Like Khan, SK has gone on a promotional blitzkrieg, where he has released a four part series of FreEP’s, starting with the Acknowledgement, followed by the September 6th release, Resolution. By March 12th, Soul Khan released the third part of the series titled Pursuance, that was followed up most recently with the DJBooth presented Wellstone, the final installment of the series.
