Shot Heard Round The World

Moke and Tone are the two man hip-hop consortium consisting of the Cali-born, Bronx-bred Mokeout of Hardtimes Records and the Massachusetts-based Tone of The Problemaddicts (Mystika Music, LLC); ranked in 2009 as URB.com’s “Next 1000″.

The duo united for a collaborative effort, titled Shot Heard Round The World which was released on April 12th of 2011.  The album successfully walks the divide between street and conscious rap, addressing a wide brush stroke of themes that range from the powers of good versus evil, overzealous emcees fighting for position, 911 conspiracy theories, and the call for alarm in this uncertain world.  Produced extensively by Mystika Music’s in-house production crew Team Genius, Shot Heard Round The World also boasts production from Illmind (50 Cent, Eminem, Little Brother), J Clyde (Young Buck, Heltah Skeltah) and features precision turntablism courtesy of The Problemaddicts own DJ Theory. The lp also  includes guest features such as Slaughterhouse’s Crooked I, Brooklyn Academy’s Mr. Metaphor and Catalyst and Vorheez (of The Problemaddicts).

Tone makes the following statement regarding the release of Shot Heard Around The World“This LP is the culmination of two years of effort. In my opinion, it’s the most polished and cohesive project I’ve ever had a hand in creating. I truly feel that I grew as an artist throughout the course of this album’s development, both as producer and lyricist.  Moke is one of the dopest emcees I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and I feel that our styles vibe well together. Big ups to all the contributing musicians who helped bring Shot Heard to life; it was definitely a group effort that spanned beyond Moke and myself. Hope y’all enjoy the show!”

The campaign launched with guns blazing with the album’s first single “Respect” ,  peaking as the number three college hip-hop single in the country.  The release of Shot Heard Around The World continued with a full-scale radio campaign for both the entire lp, where it was charted as the number eight hip-hop album in the country through CMJ, in addition to the follow-up, Illmind produced single “Destiny” , ranking a solid four on the college single charts.  The album was met with much acclaim, with an online marketing campaign spearheaded by DM360, resulting in an onrush of online posts, features interviews and reviews, including a 90 rating through the distinguished tastemaker webzine, Okayplayer.  Shot Heard Round The World is now available on iTunes.
